Uzbek visa rules depend on the country of your citizenship.  Citizens from following countries are exempted from providing a letter of invitation (LOI) unless they apply for a visa outside their country of citizenship: Great Britain, USA, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy, France, Japan, Spain and Switzerland.

There are four types of visa Business, TouristPrivate visitor and Transit.

Regardless of which type of visa you apply for, you will need to hand in the following documents to your travel agent or the Consular section of the Uzbek embassy in the country you apply from.

  1. Copy of the letter of invitation from inviting partner or travel agency in Uzbekistan (except for citizens of the above mentioned countries).
  2. Two copies of the visa application form duly completed and signed by the applicant, which can be obtained by clicking on the link below.
  3. Two recent passport-sized photographs.
  4. Passport must have at least one blank page to affix the visa and be valid for another six months from the date of your entry.
  5. Copy of all pages of the passport.

If your stay in Uzbekistan exceeds 3 days, you are required to register with the Local Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs within 3 working days after arrival. However if you travel with a tour agent or stay in a hotel, the hotel administration or the travel agent should take care of such registration on your behalf automatically. Please keep all the registration slips. You need to be able to give proof of uninterrupted registration when leaving the country.

The LOI might take up to 10 working days. Processing of visa applications may take another 10-20 working days.

If there is no Uzbek embassy in your country, you are eligible for “visa-on-arrival” at the Tashkent International Airport. In this case, you have to arrange a special LOI support for this several weeks in advance through an inviting business partner or a travel agency.
